Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is an investment of €30,000 required?
Not in all cases.
The requirement to invest at least €30,000 applies to a specific route — business creation.
There is no mandatory minimum investment threshold under the innovative project route.
2. Can I use the French company for my own business?
Yes. The company belongs to the client and can be used to conduct any lawful business activity in France within its corporate structure and the scope of the declared project.
3. I need residency, not a business. Why do I need a project?
The project serves as the basis for obtaining immigration status.
In other words, the business project is not a separate objective, but part of the strategy for obtaining the Carte Talent. At the same time, it is not always necessary to establish the company before receiving approval.
4. What if I do not have a startup idea?
This is not a problem.
The client may join a team of co-founders that is already being formed. We help prepare the project concept, business plan, financial model, and application package.
5. Do I have to live in France permanently?
Permanent residence in France is not required for the initial issuance of the Carte Talent.
When renewing the status, the authorities assess whether the project is genuine and active. If the applicant later plans to apply for French citizenship, they will need to demonstrate actual residence in France and compliance with the other naturalization requirements.
6. How long does the process take?
On average, the entire process takes 2 to 5 months.
The timeline depends on the country of application, the specific consulate, the workload of the relevant public authorities, and the complexity of the case.
Consular processing often takes around 2 months, although in certain jurisdictions it may range from 4–6 weeks to 3 months.
7. Does my spouse or do my children need a separate project?
No.
The spouse and children may apply as family members of the main applicant under the Talent – Famille status.
A separate business project is not required for each family member.
Still have questions?
We're here to help you
Yes. Business partners may act as founders of the same innovative project.
A team of 2–3 founders can often distribute the project development and support costs more efficiently compared with preparing separate cases for each participant.
At the same time, each applicant submits their documents to the consulate individually and must demonstrate their own financial standing.
8. Can two or three business partners apply together?
